In the style of the grand salons of Europe, Flatbed Press and Gallery opens an installation encompassing over 100 framed works on paper to celebrate the annual East Austin Studio Tour. The featured work of the salon is drawn from published prints starting from Flatbed’s first years to the most recent publications of 2012. Represented are artists John Alexander, Terry Allen, Alice Leora Briggs, Michael Ray Charles, John Cobb, Ann Conner, John Robert Craft, Suzi Davidoff, Catherine Dudley, Dennis Fagan, Kelly Fearing, Sandra C. Fernandez, Spencer Fidler, Matthew Fuller, Teresa Gomez Martorell, Kenneith Hale, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Sandria Hu, Arthur Huang, Cassandra James, Luis Jimenez, Robert Levers, Mary Fielding McCleary, Melissa Miller, Samson Mnisi, John Obuck, Joshua Pickens, Liliana Porter, Burton Pritzker, Linda Ridgway, Dan Rizzie Joel Salcido, Bob Schneider, Laurence Scholder, Jeff Scott, Julie Speed, James Surls, Frank X. Flatbed has participated in E.A.S.T annually for the past eleven years and houses other participating artists’ studios. One of Flatbed’s signature events for E.A.S.T. will be a printmaking demonstration open to the public. This year, Alfonso Huerta will demonstrate intaglio printmaking. Alfonso’s etchings are being featured in the upcoming book, The Drum Wars, by Carol Karasik.
