REMEMBERING BOB ANDERSON: AN EXHIBITION OF PRINTS AND DRAWINGS

Coming to Flatbed in September
SEPTEMBER 16 - NOVEMBER 1, 2014
September 19, 2014 6 PM - 8 PM

Flatbed is proud to present the work of Robert Dale Anderson (1949 - 2009). Bob was a prolific artist and highly esteemed lecturer at UT Austin.

Remembering Bob Anderson: An Exhibition of Prints and Drawingswill span two of our galleries, displaying a large selection of Anderson's works on paper.

These works combine intense detail and uninhibited fluidity to create scenes that are both classical and fantastically futuristic. The intricate small-scale tableaus are windows into vaguely familiar spaces where both growth and decay are balanced with masterful sensitivity. Bob wrote: "What is realized through silent contemplation is content that polite society does its best to hide - decay, disease, death, dementia, and chaos: the dark side. Siding with the traditions of the erotic, carnivalesque, fantastic, surrealistic and psychodelic, we find malignant growth and movement, a rotting world turned upside down in disorder, twisted grotesque bodies, beautiful monsters and decaying ruins."
