Monotypes of Michael McWillie
JULY 7 - AUGUST 31, 2015
Michael McWillie’s recent monotypes honor a certain joie de vivre. His whimsical compositions embrace the animal form, celebrating their elegance and gentleness. Scottish terriers, cardinals, elephants, giraffes, and zebras inhabit spaces free of danger and malice, taking the viewer to a place of innocence and wonder. Fanciful blue notes also inhabit these spaces, floating around and above the animals, becoming symbols of their carefree and exuberant temper. The animals are at peace with their station in life yet the music they make connotes a greater transcendence into a celebratory enjoyment.
Join us for an Artist's Reception the evening of August 21 from 6-8pm.
