Burton Pritzker's New Book and Exhibition

Burton Pritzker's New Book and Exhibition

Flatbed artist Burton Pritzker has a new book coming out January 29: Forgotten Planes: Burton Pritzker. It features 87 of the artist's black-and-white photographs taken among the oil fields of Eastern New Mexico and in the artist's studio in Austin, using objects from the oil fields. The book is designed by Henk van Assen, professor of design at Yale and former UT-Austin teacher, and it is in itself a work of art. The book contains scholarly essays by Flatbed's Mark Smith and former AMoA curator and professor of art at UC-Davis James Housefield.

The Museum of the Southwest in Midland opens an exhibition of selected works from Pritzker's Forgotten Planes series on January 29; see the announcement card below for details. The museum also acquired all 87 works of Pritzker's Forgotten Planes for its permanent collection.

Prints from Forgotten Planes are available through Flatbed.

The book is for sale at the Museum of the Southwest,

1705 West Missouri Ave, Midland TX 79701, 432-683-2882
