Collection: CASEY WILLIAMS

Casey Williams was a photographer-painter who lived and worked in Houston, Texas. In his large-scaled black-and-white photographs--sometimes hand -tinted--he double exposed two contrasting subjects in ways that stimulate reflection on the paradoxes of life. Texas Landscape, the photogravure Williams created at Flatbed in 1995, for example, juxtaposes industrial smokestacks and a bare tree with a generous bouquet of fresh flowers. Williams was a Fellow at Art Matters in New York City, and received an individual artist grant from the Cultural Arts Council of Houston. His work was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, The Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi, Texas, the Witte Museum in San Antonio, Texas, the Galveston Art Center, and many other museums and galleries.
