Collection: SUZI DAVIDOFF

Susan Davidoff is a native El Pasoan who attended the University of Texas at El Paso (BFA) and New Mexico State University (MA & MFA). Her drawings, paintings and prints have been exhibited widely throughout the United States and Mexico and are included in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Davidoff's work explores the intricate patterns of nature and the relationships of botanical shapes. The artist takes long hikes, returning to her studio with collected plants and mosses she has gathered along the way. She oftentimes uses natural pigments from the materials she gathers on her hikes, rubbing them into the surface of her drawings and prints with beautifully subtle effects.

STATEMENT:

These etchings and monotypes are part of an ongoing exploration of structure in nature, and the overlay of systems we have developed for observing, mapping and defining natural forms and phenomena.
