Collection: TRENTON DOYLE HANCOCK

Trenton Doyle Hancock was selected as one of the artists for the 2000 Whitney Biennial at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. He is the youngest artist--twenty-three at the time--ever to have been accorded that honor. In his paintings and installation/performance pieces, Hancock employs non-traditional materials in a Duchampian manner. In his eccentric, surrealist etchings, he renders bizarre creatures whose inner selves--and organs--are externalized. A master draftsman, Hancock's work is already widely collected; etchings from his Flatbed suite are in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
