Etching 101 invites you into the fascinating world of copper-plate etching—also known as Intaglio—and launches you on your printmaking journey. In this hands-on course, you’ll dive into all the essential techniques needed to create your own etching from start to finish.
By the end, you’ll know how to source and prepare copper plates, transfer your images with precision, build a rich tonal range, navigate the chemical room with confidence, mix inks, select the perfect printing paper, operate a professional press, and properly store your finished prints and plates. You’ll leave empowered to continue creating on your own or to take on more advanced courses at Flatbed.
This class is offered to all levels of experience, but is most helpful to those wanting to learn the basics.
