Belinda Casey wants to introduce one of her passions, etching. Soft ground is a different etched method that has a softer quality mark, like a pencil mark, rather than the crisp line of hard ground. Because soft ground yields to light pressure, it can be used to great advantage to create a variety of tones and textures. An array of materials like fabrics, laces, papers, cutouts, plant material, feathers, things that are malleable and soft (no bones, buttons, or metal  etc.) can be utilized to make your image. For those of you with a little etching experience, the workshop is an opportunity to expand your intaglio expertise, and access Flatbed's professional print facility!   Included with the class is one fress Open Studio session where you can continue to print the plates you made in this class.
